A Commitment to Doing More
IBC Bank traces its roots back to 1966 in Laredo, Texas where it all started with a group of investors working to meet the needs of small businesses. The IBC Bank system has proudly served the Austin Area for the past 15 years with the same community – minded service they started with 53 years ago.
IBC Bank’s slogan “We Do More” reflects the bank’s determined dedication to the growth and success of the customers and the communities it serves. The cornerstone on which the bank was founded remains a key focus of the bank’s team members today – superior products and services tailored to the specific needs of its customers. IBC Bank’s “Prompt Response” philosophy means traveling to a customer’s place of business or working far beyond the mythical banker’s hours. It also includes providing the right connections statewide and internationally, offering the bank’s customers the resources and relationships that IBC Bank has spent decades developing. Most importantly, it is a reflection of IBC Bank’s commitment to each of its customers.
In the summer of 2004, IBC Bank-Austin President & CEO Bob Barnes led IBC Bank’s official full-banking service into the Austin market, which was marked by the opening of the bank’s regional headquarters in downtown Austin. (In 2001, IBC Bank acquired Austin-based First Equity and made its initial footprint in the Austin market.) Barnes continues to spearhead IBC Bank-Austin’s expansion in the greater Austin area organically through new branch construction and community reinvestment. IBC Bank-Austin currently has eleven branches in the greater Austin area including locations in Leander, Cedar Park, Round Rock, Bastrop, and a main location in East Austin at East Cesar Chavez St. and North Pleasant Valley Road that accommodates the underserved in that part of the city.
IBC is proud to have financed many local projects, including The Quincy, Hotel Magdalena, Music Lane, Plaza Saltillo, The Grove, State House Apartments, and Springtown Student Housing in San Marcos. Master Planned Communities include Belterra, Blackhawk, Caliterra, Carmel, Carneros Ranch, Crosswinds, Cypress Forest, Highpoint, Larkspur Community, North Paloma Lake, Parten Ranch Subdivision, Rough Hollow, Santa Rita Ranch, and Siena.

In 2018, J.D. Power began to measure IBC Bank’s customer satisfaction with the service quality provided across the bank’s branch network. Through this engagement, IBC Bank continues to apply its “We Do More” motto by more accurately measuring the quality of service the bank provides. The goal is to enhance IBC Bank’s service skills and provide a great customer experience.
A Community Bank Serving the Community
The IBC Bank management team is fully committed to serving its customers and improving the quality of life in the communities it serves. IBC Bank set out to help its schools and communities with a program that not only assists schools in addressing attendance issues, but also provides students with real-life skills.
The Minitropolis® program concept was created by IBC Bank in 1996 as a tool to help teachers impart the importance and significance of financial literacy at a young age.
Minitropolis® mirrors a fully functioning mini-city that replicates a real-life community for students in elementary schools. The program offers an exciting, hands-on learning tool that allows teachers to apply classroom-learned concepts to real-life scenarios such as purchasing groceries and going to the post office. The goal is for students to master the basics of financial literacy, understand the importance of saving money as well as learn leadership skills that will help them as adults.
The Minitropolis® program has grown significantly since its inception. It is now in approximately 30 elementary schools throughout Texas, including Austin’s Blackshear Elementary School, founded in 2015.
In addition, IBC Bank-Austin has Community Suites at the IBC Bank Plaza and Cesar Chavez locations. These spaces are donated year-round to local non-profits for business and event use free of charge. In 2018, the bank hosted over 35 organizations with a valued in-kind donation cost of over $66,000.
IBC Bank-Austin has also been a major sponsor for many events including American YouthWorks Help Clifford Help Kids, The Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Capital of Texas Awards, the Junior League of Austin Christmas Affair, the Make-A-Wish Foundation Over The Edge event, the Muscular Dystrophy Association Muscle Walk, Blue Lapis Light performances, and Preservation Austin Merit Awards Celebration. The bank also strongly supports many other organizations that benefit low/moderate income individuals and organizations that impact the improvement of the Greater Austin Area. In addition, IBC Bank-Austin is a major supporter of the Seton Foundation in support of the Dell Seton Medical Center at The University of Texas in their mission to care for all by providing healthcare to families in our community who are living in poverty and otherwise could not afford care.
In recognition of its exemplary service to the community, IBC Bank-Austin has garnered numerous industry awards, most recently being named the 2018 Corporation of the Year by the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce at the 45th Celebrando Austin Gala. This award honors corporations that strongly support the chamber and proactively use their resources to give back to the Greater Austin community.
