Don L. Smith

Specialists in Construction Litigation

Nashville attorney Greg Cashion was probably more than a little surprised in 1997 when Don Smith, another legal colleague, entered his office and suggested the time was right for them to start a boutique construction law firm. “Since Don had been my mentor for 15 years, however, the decision was a no-brainer. Basically we took the whole construction law section of a larger firm and started our own firm. We shared a common vision to practice exclusively construction law, control our own destiny, further develop our expertise in construction law and provide great service to our clients.”

Smith and Cashion partnered with Jeff Orr and Richard Smith to found Smith Cashion & Orr, PLC. They believed that Nashville was ready to support a boutique construction law firm that would provide clients a wide range of specialized services, including contract review and preparation, bid protests, claims analysis and preparation, claims avoidance, alternative dispute resolution, licensing consultation, and litigation support.

The founders, all of whom remain active in the operation of the firm today, uniquely positioned themselves to serve the legal needs of those involved in and doing business with the construction industry.

They remain so today.
